My biggest fear?

Made for Corentine Granderue's mail art project "Envoyez-moi votre plus grande peur"("Send me your greatest fear").
Me 'peur'??
As I know and accept since many years that life will end one day, that most people learn to cope with negative things in life and I expect myself to do so, too, and that unpleasant things always will end, I thought there is nothing that really and continuously would scare me. Until I remembered a situation that my knees started shaking and my body stopped moving forward: I am able to be afraid: there are situations in which I show fear of height!
So I drew this situation. In real it was a ledge instead of a bridge and this ledge wasn't that high :-)

In front you can see one of my very rare self portraits :-)

And I wonder: what is YOUR biggest fear?

The envelope was inspired by Corentine's call for entries and by the well-known art by "E", ambassadeur d'Utopia.

The 'fear' mail art project has closed. But don't worry: check Corentine's website for her new mail art project: "l'Enfermement" ("The imprisonment").
And "E"'s website for his new project: "Les migrants – Mineurs isolés – Europe, terre promise?" ("The migrants - isolated minors - Europe, promised land?").

Time to send Butterflies!

It is summer now, here, with temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius, and the butterflies fly.
Time to send two of them into the world.

The Vanessa Atalanta (Red Admiral) will travel overseas, to the USA, and the Lemon butterfly will go to Hungary.
Have a safe travel, the two of you!

Ficus Postalis

Recently I unexpectedly received mail art from our mail art colleague Fike, aka Ficus Strangulensis. A nice surprise!

Usually I don't draw plants (I think them difficult to draw!), but this time I couldn't resist drawing a plant in return. Named Ficus Postalis.

Banana Day

The third Wednesday in April is said to be Banana Day, as are 21st of February and 18th of November and some more days.

This illustration I made on the back side of a package (so it is a kind of recycling art). And sent it too late for a previous Banana Day, and also too late for Banana Bread day. But at least it was postmarked on Leap Day and much appreciated by the receiver, Katerina in Greece.

Sometimes a bird, sometimes a cat

Sometimes one has to draw a bird, sometimes one has to draw a cat.
You'll probably know that I prefer to draw birds, but to my surprise suddenly this cat came out of my drawing pen, too.

The Rainbow Lorekeet I've sent in south-east direction, the Cat is on its way to the north-west, which I think a good idea because this way they won't hurt each other.

Update (two hours later)

Forgot that this year I've drawn one other cat before.
Accompanied by famous Rat Remy, sent to the south:

Mail Chicken and Mail Gull

About 48 weeks ago I painted two postal birds, on eggs. Birds other than the well-known mail pigeons. I peeled the eggs a little on the back to remove the inside. And I've kept them for almost a year in my kitchen window sill.

Finally the time has come to let them go, thanks to this call for an Egg Mail Art project!

So I packed them and added some drawing inside the box:

Seems to be a good question: 'Who was first, the chicken or the egg?'. These birds know the answer!

And I addressed it to the curator of this project, Éva in Hungary:

With some flying egg on the back side (all credits to the mail artist who drew this first - alas I forgot who it was.):

All in a larger package with many stamps:

Wishing both birds a good and safe travel!

Mail for the unknown Mr. Eduardo Munez

Triceratops, drawn for Ruth Tapp, or better: for the mysterious person we don't know yet but who we might learn to know when the movie about him will have been released!

You can still send mail to Mr. Eduardo Munez, check this call for mail art. And see the received mail on the 'Eduardo Munze Letter Project' blog!

They did it again...

This time a mass tree slaughter in a neighbouring city...
I can't understand why the local authorities cut down so many trees - living lungs! - in our polluted urbanized motorwayful region...

Sent to Ryosuke Cohen. Hope this Tribute to the Trees will raise a little bit of awareness. Probably the authorities will stay deaf and don't care about biodiversity and our future generations' health...
